TAL: The First Aviation Conglomerate

The Industrial Development Division

The Industrial Development Division (under the direction of S. McKee Mhoon), had a fully equipped plant for the manufacture of both aviation and non-aviation related projects. They produced aircraft components for Navy fighters, chairs, and even developed two types of small refrigerators.  One of these refrigerators was round and designed for use in doctors' offices and clinics, where it was necessary to store serums, vaccines, and antibiotics in small vials and containers.  It had a rotating shelf on a central spindle-rather like a Lazy Susan. The second refrigerator was a junior-sized box to sell for use in small apartments or motels where space was limited.
